I began life in this community and my faith was nurtured here in the First Mennonite Church faith family. My education started with my family on the farm and continued in the Bluffton school system. Part of my formation happened participating in music, youth group, and sports. I enjoyed being involved in as many of those things as possible. My first two years of college were at Taylor University studying systems analysis. I transferred to Bluffton University and finished with a BA in Administration and Accounting.
After college I ventured into music, singing professionally in a group called The Spurrlows based in Longwood, Florida. We lead music worship in large churches mostly in the southern US and performed on a convention circuit across the country and in Europe. This experience was also formational! The adventure continued with marriage to Beth, starting and operating a printing business called Boehr Print. I took a position as quarter time Youth Coordinator at First Mennonite for seven years and then a position at Bluffton University in Church Relations, Alumni Relations, and Assistant Campus Pastor. I was called to the role of Program Director at Camp Friedenswald. After three years I followed a long-time desire to attend seminary and entered an MA program in Christian Formation/Spirituality at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary. I finished that degree in 2018. My formation continues.
Beth and I have two adult sons that grew up in this community, Jacob and Micah. Their families with our two granddaughters and grandson live in Wisconsin and Illinois
